JOB SUMMARY:

Perform programming and start-up functions on selected security systems based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents. Provide analysis of security system performance at varying levels. Ensure documentation is accurate and complete. Provide project-engineering support as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the installation, startup, programming and commissioning of various security systems
  • Bosch intrusion detection, enterprise access control, IP video systems, and IP intercom systems
  • Effectively and efficiently adapt blueprints and drawings to meet site specific requirements
  • Maintain, install, configure, troubleshoot and repair Client/Server computer systems, IP Intercom systems, CCTV monitors, video switches, recorders and storage devices
  • Maintain, install, terminate, and calibrate field devices, sensors and communications infrastructure
  • Complete comprehensive field reports, travel expense reports, safety logs, as-built drawings, programming spreadsheets, training agendas and sign in sheets
  • Conducts customer-witnessed tests of installed and/or repaired systems and document these tests
  • Assist service department in implementing upgrades and preventative maintenance
  • Assist in performing site surveys and site survey reports
  • Participate in weekly meeting to discuss installation and maintenance activities, changes, and other developments with the customer and other on-site personnel as required
  • Verifies programming of systems installed by ATS, including remedying any programming issues before customer acceptance.
  • Plans and organizes acceptance of installation project by customer, ensuring system functionality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures that all assigned installation projects are handled properly in accordance with ATS’s policies and procedures, are timely completed, and are completed in accordance with budget.
  • Assists with other technical support issues, as needed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Electrical background and knowledge of electrical materials
  • Successful experience with complex enterprise integrated systems installations
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as within a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives with little supervision
  • Proficiency in application software including Microsoft (all builds after XP), Microsoft Office Suite, MS-SQL, Windows Server, AutoCAD and Visio.
  • Lenel, Axis Communications, Zenitel IP Intercoms, Avigilon, Bosch Intrusion, Milestone, Genetec and hardware and software installation experience.
  • IP video security systems and camera installation
  • Familiarity with NVR’s , Matrix Switches, Multiplexers and DVR’s
  • Relay logic
  • Advanced knowledge of electric lock hardware installation IE… maglocks, strikes and electrified rim exit devices
  • Network related devices such as: Cisco, HP, and Dell switches. Patch panels and equipment racks. UPS devices and power management systems. Fiber and Ethernet transceivers, patches and panels
  • Understand and interact with LAN and WAN systems as a part of an overall security installation

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires consistent physical work at a project jobsite and in the office, spending some of your time on your feet. Project jobsites may present typical construction and outdoor conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment for safety purposes. Lifting and exerting up to 50 pounds of force is occasionally required. Small repetitive motions and use of small tools is included.

  • Full-time, non-exempt
  • Typical Monday – Friday working hours with flexibility as needed
  • Local travel required

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of a four (4) year Apprentice Program in Electronics or Communications, an Associate degree in electronics/Information Technology/Communications, a graduate of a military Class A and/or B in electronics or communications, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience at the professional level with responsible duties including but not limited to the following:
    • Principles of electricity, electronics, complex and highly integrated electronic systems, and relay logic;
    • Installation, maintenance, repair, upgrading, integrating, troubleshooting and testing of electrical and electronic systems;
    • Ability to interpret and work with blueprints, drawings, technical manuals, handbooks and other technical documentation as well as the ability to evaluate and correct technical problems;
    • Knowledge and skills in field engineering, and final commissioning and training;
    • Specialized knowledge of the following or similar systems is preferred: Lenel, Axis, Bosch, Zenitel, Avigilon, Genetec, and Milestone.
